Haute Event: MK Pritzker’s 2010 Evergreen Invitational $75,000 Grand Prix

A constant staple in the society pages, MK Prizker held her annual see and be seen equestrian event at their private farm in Bristol, Wisconsin on September 11. The Evergreen Invitational had a wet start with scattered showers resulting in a five-way tie of the $25,000 Junior/Amateur Owner. But it cleared up for Kent Farrington and Up Chiqui to take first in the $75,000 Grand Prix. The sun burst through the clouds just in time for the victory lap. Both courses were designed by eight-time USEF course designer of the year, Richard Jeffrey, on the sand based, grass Grand Prix field. The weekend-long event included a poker party Friday night, a Promenade of Shops including vendors like Graff Diamonds, Lake Forest Sport Cars, Dennis Basso, Escada, Saddlers Row, Argo Tea, Hoosier Mama Pies and many more and food tents.

A premier event for nationally and internationally ranked horse riders, the Invitational brings the beauty, pageantry and amazing athleticism of show jumping to greater Chicagoland. The equestrian Grand Prix (meaning greatest or richest of prizes) has long been a fan favorite in Europe and is now gaining wide popularity here in the U.S. Regarded as one of the most exciting events of the Olympic Games, Grand Prix show jumping events are now seen from coast to coast Founded by MK Pritzker in 2006, the Evergreen Invitational has been a triumph in both the equestrian and fundraising arenas. Over 600 people came out to support the cause and over a $1 million dollars was raised to support innovative healthcare programs for women at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
