Haute Event: Diane’s Day at DavidBartonGym

News | September 23, 2010

David Barton has been quietly giving back to cancer research for a while. But this month, he used his namesake fitness center, DavidBartonGym, to help further the cause. In memory of his sister, Diane Barton, who passed away five years ago from ovarian cancer, Barton launched a national training initiative by offering reduced enrollment fees with a goal to raise $100,000 for the month of September.

In addition, Barton also proclaimed Sept. 22 as “Diane’s Day” with all funds raised that day donated directly to the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund and The Clearity Foundation. “Diane’s Day” was an evening of music, cocktails, trunk shows, silent auctions and other special activities.

Kara DioGuardi and Alexandra Richards celebrated “Diane’s Day” at DavidBartonGym Astor Place in New York City. The two spent their time in the deejay booth with DioGuardi sporting a Jules Smith “Diane’s Charms” bracelets to show her support. Other attendees included Renee Zellwegger and “Lost” star Josh Holloway.
