Haute Event: Bombay Sapphire Lounge Opening

News | September 7, 2010

On Wednesday, Sept. 1, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Downtown Miami hosted a VIP preview of the new Bombay Sapphire Lounge. The new hot spot is Bacardi U.S.A. Inc.’s first stand-alone themed venue dedicated to Bombay Sapphire gin. The Lounge, which is located in the 1929 Art Deco Carnival Tower, will open to the public during scheduled performances during the center’s Fall for the Arts Festival on Sept. 12. The official grand opening of the lounge will take place on Oct. 19 during the center’s run of “Dreamgirls.” The lounge will cater to downtown residents and visitors every Tuesday through Saturday (and Sundays when performances are held).

Attendees of the event included Adrienne Arsht Center board members, Bacardi U.S.A. VIPs and select members of the media. During the event, guests enjoyed specialty cocktails crafted by Bombay Sapphire master mixologist Milo Rodriguez and light cuisine by Performance Arts Catering by Barton G.

“As more and more residents and visitors flock to our urban core, the new Bombay Sapphire Lounge promises to become a centerpiece of downtown Miami’s social scene,” said Alyce Robertson, executive director of the Miami Downtown Development Authority.

The new Bombay Sapphire Lounge was created to further invigorate downtown Miami’s burgeoning social scene. “Much more than an amenity for our patrons, the Bombay Sapphire Lounge is an important step forward in the Adrienne Arsht Center’s role as both a full-service entertainment destination and a catalyst for economic growth in our neighborhood,” said M. John Richard, the center’s president and CEO.

Miami-Dade County Manager George Burgess agrees. “The new Bombay Sapphire Lounge will offer both a gathering spot for local residents and a new attraction for theater patrons,” he explains.

We, for one, cannot wait until this lounge opens to the public. The cool artistic vibe and local downtown feel will undoubtedly help this place become Miami’s newest social hot spot.

Bombay Sapphire Lounge is located at 1300 Biscayne Blvd., adjacent to the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House.
