Button’s Restaurant Comes To Addison

Fort Worth’s homestyle cookin’ and grade-A entertainment house Button’s restaurant has recently expanded to the old Sambuca space on Addison Avenue, and they couldn’t have bestowed their blessings on  more grateful subjects. Heaven forbid the life and energy that jazz joint/supper club Sambuca bestowed on Addison partygoers be replaced by something hum drum and dull. But then again, that wouldn’t really be the Circle’s style.

Buttons, led by head chef and soul food master Keith Hicks (the eatery is named after his childood nickname given by his grandmother), has everything true Southerners crave: an assortment of fresh seafood (mostly fried, but come on, live a little), great cocktails and a killer nightly entertainment line up that keeps people dancin’ it up until the wee hours on weekends. On the appetizer menu, try the “Skrimps”, flash fried with applewood smoked bacon and spicy Serrano peppers. Or the chicken “Wangs” with Jamaican Jerk seasoning. Then of course there’s your usual suspects, a fantastic gumbo and alfredo pasta, and some unusual items like Oxtail soup.

But by far the most popular (and on the list of most incredible things I have ever tried), is the Chicken & Waffles, piece of hand-battered fried chicken over a bed of greens, snuggled up next to a Belgian waffle with powdered sugar, strawberries and a ramekin of maple syrup. To top it all off, a healthy dose of sweet potato pommes frites to help marry the sensations of savory and sweet. Could you ask for anything more devilishly desirous?
