Party Time: The Haute 5 Galas in Boston

Cinderellas and Prince Charmings, call your concierge and get thee to valet: here are the Haute 5 galas in Boston.

Boston Public Library Foundation Annual Gala

Held within the largest, most historic municipal library in the United States, the Boston Public Library Foundation’s annual gala is held within its very storied walls and lush, outdoor courtyard, bringing together the city’s most generous shakers and socialites. The event is responsible for raising a large majority of the library’s operating budget, and in 2010, exceeded fundraising levels for the past eight years.

The Boston Public Library Foundation can be reached at bplf@bplf.com

Raise the Sails Gala

Ahoy! The Raise the Sales Gala (this year, held at super haute spot, Liberty Hotel), an annual event, benefits Community Boating—which, in turn, benefits sailing, rowing and other water sport lessons and events that residents can partake in upon the banks of the Charles River. (We promise your ball gown won’t get wet.)

Community Boating can be reached at info@community-boating.org

Bridge Over Troubled Waters Gala

At its 40th anniversary, the Bridge Over Troubled Waters Gala raised nearly $1 million to benefit at-risk youth, ensuring that their futures will remain as bright as the spirit that enchanted the evening. Guests included Bostonian philanthropist Bob Davis and Boston Mayor Tom Menino.

Hello Stiletto Shoe Ball

Hello, fabulous! This annual event, now in its second year in Boston, attracts the city’s most fashionable (and fierce) footwear aficionados, where Louboutin- and Blahnik-clad guests help raise funds for the Accelerated Cure Project for MS.

The Resolution Ball

The longest running New Year’s Eve gala in Beantown, the Resolution Ball is a surefire sell out, with guests donning their finest couture at Back Bay and South End venues (frequently, the Top of the Hub within the Prudential Tower and the spacious Boston Center for the Arts). The event typically attracts young professionals, including members from the city’s fashion, financial and education industries.

The Resolution Ball is sponsored by Boston Event Guide.
