International Automobile Salon Opens in Moscow
The international status of the Moscow Automobile Salon is acknowledged as an “A” category motor show alongside with Geneva, Paris, London, Detroit and Frankfurt motor shows. This year it takes place for a third time at Crocus Exhibition Centre that has hosted all the Millionaires Fares in Moscow.
The sheer scale of the show is really impressive. The overall exhibit space of the venue is more then 100,000 square meters, which is equal to eight football pitches. Eighty exhibitors of this year salon are showcasing more than 600 cars. That includes eight world, seven European and 62 Russian premiers. Twenty new concept cars are also displayed.
Among eight world premiers are a Jaguar XJ, Land Rover Freelander, updated Mercedes CL-Class, new Maybach and a new Porsche 911 GT2 RS. The new Porsche will cost around $375,000 in Russia. But Muscovites will be able to enjoy what is the fastest Porsche of all time even before the Germans.
Bentley participates at the Moscow Auto Show for the first time. Together with its Russian distributor Mercury it is showcasing the most expensive model in the history of the brand — the Bentley Mulsanne with a price range from $570,000 up to more than $760,000. But it’s impossible to buy a Mulsanne this year; there are too many requests in Russia already.
For the first time in Russia INFINITI presents its concept coupe INFINITI Essence, that was specially designed for the company 20-year anniversary.
High-end vehicles and premiers will probably steel the show and take away the spotlight from budget rivals, although organizers are not targeting wealthy car buyers only.
The Moscow Automobile Salon will be held until Sept. 5, and organizers are expecting that about 1.5 million visitors will attend the event.
