The Ellen Hermanson Foundation is a local Hamptons charity that was created in the memory of Ellen Hermanson, a breast cancer activist, who taught the importance of early detection, the challenges of living with breast cancer, and the debilitating effects of breast cancer on the entire family.

On Saturday, Aug. 21, the foundation celebrated 15 years of leading the fight against breast cancer with a Gala party, HEAT, at honoree Steven Klein’s private residence in Bridgehampton. Event chairpersons were Christie Brinkley and Lisa Schifter Greenberg along with honorary chairpersons Kim Cattrall and Edie Falco. Hope Klein Langer and Donna Karan were also honored at the event. A special feature of the evening was the online auction that offered four backstage tickets to see Lady Gaga in concert.

The following morning was the charity’s main fundraising event, Ellen’s Run, an annual 5K race from which proceeds go to the new Ellen Hermanson Breast Center at Southampton Hospital among many other breast health programs.
