In Good Taste: Barbara Lynch’s Menton
The newest member to culinary courtesan Barbara Lynch’s family of fine dining restaurants, Menton promises — and delivers — a prix fixe like no other.
Named after a small French village and located in Boston’s ultra-haute Fort Point neighborhood, Menton stands apart from Lynch’s Gruppo portfolio: its entire menu is offered via prix fixe, which includes both its aptly named menu for $95, or as a chef’s tasting for $145 (with an optional wine pairing for an additional $105), plus seasonal supplements that vary.
Menton is a true omnivore’s delight thanks to Executive Chef Colin Lynch, with foie gras, English pea velouté and French turbot all demanding the taste buds’ full attention. Wine Director and globally renowned sommelier, Cat Silirie, exercised both her expertise and highest discretion when creating the restaurant’s wine list, which includes a global palette of vino goodness. (Though Silirie assists with wine list creation and direction at Lynch’s other restaurants, a well-educated staff is always on hand to answer even the most discriminating queries about wine pairings.)
The space, understated yet elegant, was planned by Boston’s C&J Katz studio, a husband-wife design duo also responsible for planning No. 9 Park, Stir and Sportello and is complemented by genuine Burgundy artwork and graphite drawings. Menton is also available for private events; contact the restaurant directly for more information on availability.
With laudable praise sang from high atop Beacon Hill to across the Atlantic, come see why this James Beard Award-winner restaurateur has what it takes to create a dining experience worth every last bite.
Menton is located at 354 Congress Street, Boston, 617.737.0099
