Camp was always where you learned the finer things in life, or at least the fun things in life. Either way, summer camp was an unforgettable experience. On Saturday, June 19, 15 privileged girls ages 12 to 18 will spend a half-day at the area’s most luxurious oceanfront hotel attaining the basics of modern-day manners, beauty, poise, style and healthy eating habits from industry professionals and ambassadorial role-models.

Inspired by the city’s model-laden streets, culture, fashion and charisma, Charm Camp at The Ritz-Carlton is an innovative etiquette program with an updated twist; think Miss Manners meets Miss America. Tweens will polish skills that they can incorporate into their everyday lives.

Open to hotel guests and the public, charm school’s five-hour schedule includes the following cultured activities for $175 per teen:

• An hour-long session with Ritz-Carlton makeup artists who will introduce girls to Benefit Cosmetics and teach young ladies how to create a fresh look that is age-appropriate.
• A mini class on conducting oneself as a lady, creating positive first impressions, greeting guests and making them feel welcome, using proper telephone etiquette and appropriate vocabulary, practicing good posture, enhancing a simple “yes” or “no” response, remembering the all-important thank you note and imparting overall positivity.
• An interactive, behind-the-scenes class in The Ritz-Carlton’s kitchen where a chef will teach the girls the ease of making healthy eating choices, tasty, low-calorie dishes, after-school snacks and healthy smoothies for natural energy.
• An hour-long dance choreography clinic led by two dancers from the four-time “Most Popular Dance Team in the NBA” Miami Heat Dancers. Following the dance lesson, the dancers will lead a question and answer session discussing etiquette and appearances, being a role model, making a positive impression and being an active member of the community.

For those wishing to spend the weekend and put their refined prowess into use in the “glam capital” of Miami, special guestroom rates begin at $279 per night. Each little miss will receive a deluxe gift bag of Benefit Cosmetics. Two additional classes are slated for November and December, just in time for the holidays.
