4th Annual Kites for a Cure

News | June 2, 2010

On Memorial Day Weekend, over 800 people participated in the 4th Annual “Kites for a Cure,” a family kite fly benefit held at Coopers Beach in Southampton, NY. The event raised an astounding $200,000 for Uniting Against Lung Cancer, the organization funds nationwide lung cancer research.

For a small donation, guests received kites they personalized themselves with pictures, drawings, messages, etc. Once again the event was a huge draw as hundreds of families arrived for a fun-filled afternoon in support of an amazing cause.

“The fourth annual Kites for a Cure was another huge success with hundreds of families joining in the fight against lung cancer by flying kites on our beautiful beach,” said Mark Epley, Mayor of the Village of Southampton. Mr. Epley served as the Honorary Commodore of the event, a cause he holds dear having lost his father to lung cancer six years ago.
