Wilkes Bashford Launches New Lines

News | May 12, 2010

San Francisco’s luxury retail scene has recently been enlivened by the direction of the venerable establishment, Wilkes Bashford.

The Mitchell family, based in Connecticut, has partnered with Wilkes in creating a store which will thrive throughout the new decade and beyond. Jack Mitchell, who is Chairman of the Mitchells Family of Stores, will be in San Francisco for the year, as will his nephew Tyler Mitchell (the men’s accessories buyer), who relocated to the City. Jack’s son, Andrew Mitchell-Namdar (vice president of marketing), will split his time between San Francisco and New York, where he lives with his husband Isaac Namdar, MD.

The family has the challenge of keeping existing Wilkes Bashford customers happy while also bringing in a new group of shoppers, and have begun the task fantastically well by bringing in some wonderful collections that are new to the store, including Behnaz Sarafpour, J Mendel, Michael Kors, Andrew Gn, Etro, Loro Piana, Stefano Ricci, Sonia Rykiel and Lela Rose.

We dropped by the store one recent afternoon for the launch of the gorgeous Kimberly McDonald jewelry collection, and the latest from Kiton. The Kimberly McDonald collection was shown by Patrick McDonald (no relation to the designer), the Dandy of New York, who is a big fan of the line and wears it himself. Kimberly McDonald is the newest addition to the new jewelry department, and is bound to be one of the most popular additions to the store. Each piece in the collection, featuring open-face geode rocks, is one-of-a-kind, but the prices are very much within reach.

Any man looking for true luxury in his wardrobe knows to find it from Kiton, and now Wilkes Bashford is offering an expanded selection from the company. If every well-dressed woman has to have at least one Chanel suit, every well-dressed man needs a handmade outfit from Kiton.
