Top Honors for Former Haute Living Ambassador Chef Daniel Boulud
Chef Daniel Boulud and his team are as good as the Lakers, and it has been another successful road to the championship for them.
As foodie followers around the country know, on May 3 Chef Boulud and his New York restaurant, Daniel, were commemorated with the James Beard Award for “Outstanding Restaurant.” Akin to the Oscars, Emmys, and Tonys, the James Beard Award is the most prestigious of the culinary world. So picture that little gold medal sprinkled with parsley flakes and a bit of olive oil drizzled over the top, making it more illuminated than it already is.
What’s even more noteworthy than the seasoned gold disc is the fact that just two weeks earlier restaurant Daniel was ranked No. 8 in Restaurant Magazine’s list of the “World’s 50 Best Restaurants,” making it one of three special winners in the U.S. that are in that top ten.
Always in touch with the movers and shakers of industry, Chef Daniel has long been a favorite here at Haute Living, so much so that the culinary wizard showed his penchant for the written word, penning several first person columns for our New York magazines.
Boulud and his team of skilled chefs are certainly not foreigners to the James Beard awards. They have earned every accolade in the categories for restaurants:
Restaurant Daniel: 2009 “Outstanding Service”
Daniel Boulud: 2006 “Outstanding Restaurateur”
Daniel Boulud: 1994 “Outstanding Chef of the Year”
Daniel Boulud: 1992 “Best Chef: New York City”
Daniel Johnnes, Wine Director: 2006 “Outstanding Wine & Spirits Professional”
Jean Francois Bruel, Executive Chef: 2002 “Rising Star Chef of the Year”
To which we send out our hautest of congratulations.
