The 4th Annual Blueprint and Blue Jeans Benefit

Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco hosted its 4th annual Blueprints & Blue Jeans Benefit on April 27 at the Westin St. Francis. Proceeds from the exciting event benefited the organization and their goal to raise homes and hope for another 100 families by 2013.

An enormous crowd swarmed the sold-out event and helped topple fund-raising expectations. Nearly 700 guests adorned in blue jeans arrived to enjoy the silent auction, iPad raffle, and construction contests. The inspirational program featured remarks by Jonathan Reckford, CEO, Habitat for Humanity International, and event chair Brenda Wright, Senior Vice President, Wells Fargo. Audience members became increasingly emotional as special speakers took the podium, including emcees Jose and Xavier, twin brothers whose mother’s determination enabled them to obtain a Habitat home eight years ago.

A historic moment was marked when first homeowner in Marin County, Miguel, presented the Mara Feeney Service Award to the Marin Community Foundation. The Foundation’s leadership helped ensure he could build a bright future for his family in Marin. The evening ended with a special presentation of the Habitat Humanitarian Award by Habitat family member Josephine to Peter Darbee, President & CEO of PG&E.
