Dori’s World: Teens Making a Difference on Friday Night
On Friday night was an event showing that teenagers really do make a difference.
Teens Making a Difference, sponsored by Rocawear, held their second annual fundraiser at Seth Greenberg’s Espace, in NYC on May 7, raising more than $70,000 through proceeds from the $200 ticket event, which benefited Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for Cancer Research
Chairing the event was Andrew Warren, son of Marcy and Michael Warren. More than 300 NYC teens turned out to support Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation for blood-related cancers and research.
The charity was started in 1996 by Denise Rich and her late daughter Gabrielle, who passed away from leukemia that same year. Today, the charity is run by Denise and her two daughters, Daniella and Ilona. The adult event called the Angel Ball takes place in the fall. Daniella Rich Kilstock and Richard Kilstock were in attendance on Friday night to support the teen event.
British hip hop artist Jay Sean rocked the house out while Danielle Brizel and Jan Planit coordinated a fabulous fashion show with spring outfits by Michael Kors, Anlo, Shoshanna, Elizabeth and James by Mary Kate Olsen, Unk and Will, Calvin Klein, Alice+Olivia, Cynthia Rowley, and Maglia. Grayson Vaughn, the newly signed Calvin Klein model walked the runway showing off jeans and tee shirts for men.
Committee members on board who helped coordinate this soirée were Gaia Matisse, Karen Shiboleth, Julianna Hatkoff, Sophie Curtis, Reya Benitez, Avery Singer, Elizabeth Hilfiger, Anabele Schwartz, Mackenzie Phelan, and Rebecca Chernyavsky
These kids really know how to throw a bash and didn’t skip a beat on the food either: Pop Burger, Saint Ambrouse, Serafina, Serendipty 3, and Crumbs cupcakes donated food, and Carlo’s Bake Shop, from the TLC show Cake Boss, donated a cake.
Tinsley Mortimar, Mark Indelicato (Ugly Betty), Sports Illustrated model Esti Ginsberg, Tiffany, Dabney Mercer, and Jules Kirby were all on the red carpet.
