News | May 12, 2010

On May 3, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation welcomed guests to the Ritz Carlton, San Francisco for their annual fundraiser, the Bay Area Hope Gala. The event was a record-breaking success as Hope Gala Co-Chairs Jenny Bolt and Amy Lewis as well as Honorees Pitch and Cathie Johnson helped make the evening an amazing one.

All money raised benefited JDRF research, which aims to produce a cure for the millions of adults and children living with diabetes. Guests were greeted with cocktails followed by a silent auction including a barrel room specifically for the sale of fine wines. There were several Bay Area wineries on hand as well to pour their wines at sponsored tables throughout the night.

Co-Anchor, CBS 5 Eyewitness News Dana King, emceed the event, while Randy Parnell handled the lively auction, which featured incredible items such as exotic trips, entertainment packages, and even catered dinners. The night concluded with a birthday cake for Pitch Johnson as over 400 voices sang traditional birthday cheer.
