The Campfire Ball?

News | April 24, 2010

Creativity points for Fundraising goes to Children’s Oncology Services (COSI), who are hosting the Third Annual Campfire Ball at N9NE Steakhouse & Ghostbar on April 24, 2010.  They’ll be serving up inventive cocktails and camp-themed foods all night long. Hot DJs will be rocking the house, and there will be plenty of opportunities to support the kids through awesome silent auction items, raffles and more.

Dr. Edward Baum, a pediatric oncologist at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago, founded Children’s Oncology Services, Inc., in 1978. Dr. Baum recognized that the isolation from school, activities and peers was having negative social and developmental consequences for his patients. With the help of friends and colleagues, Dr. Baum created COSI. The first summer, he and 14 volunteers welcomed 40 children with cancer to a life-changing week of hope, strength and support. From the popular two-week Summer Camp, which now serves nearly 300 children, to skiing excursions and education programs, COSI is a leader in providing empowering and fun experiences to young people facing cancer. Through the magic of childhood experiences, they help kids diagnosed with cancer reclaim their lives.

I always wanted s’mores to be suave. And you always wanted camp to be co-ed with cocktails. The best of both worlds.

Tickets to the Ball can be purchased at http://www.onestepcamp.org/.
