It’s Back: The Nautica South Beach Triathlon Takes Over on April 11
Get your running shoes, swim trunks, and bike pants ready. It’s time for Nautica’s 3rd Annual South Beach Triathlon, and once again, celebrities will be pounding the pavement right along with the rest of the runners. They will battle it out on the scenic landscapes of Miami right alongside trained athletes, corporate teams, and the pros who get paid to sweat for a living.
Naturally, it’s all for a good cause, this time with the charitable donations supporting St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. The event has been sold out, with more than 2,400 registered participants from all countries imaginable. Some notable names have managed to sign up for the race, including: Natalie Morales, Eliza Dushku, Rick Fox, Chris “Macca” McCormack, Ali Vincent, Heather Tom, Andy Baldwin, Sarah Burke, Geoff Stultz, Anna Maria Perez de Taglé, Stacy Kiebler and DeAngelo Williams.
On April 11, 2010, participants will begin the International Course with a 1.5K swim in the Atlantic Ocean, followed by a 40K bike ride over Miami Beach’s causeways. Tired yet? Participants will finish the race with a 10K run along the famous Art Deco District. As for the Classic Course, there will be a half-mile ocean swim, followed by a 19-mile bike ride. I’ll wait until you can catch your breath. Finally, the course will end with a four-mile out-and-back run.
Festivities begin promptly at 7 a.m. with check-in at 5th Street and Ocean Drive so lounge lizards wanting to show support should just plan to head straight to the sand at the end of the evening.
