Friday Night in the Magic City
It’s another Friday night in the Magic City, and that means the plethora of entertainment options are endless. Here are some of the events that are on our radar to kick off a fabulous weekend of fun in the South Florida sun.
Scott Barnes at Silvia Tcherassi
Want to know the tricks of the trade that make J. Lo glow? Celebrity make-up artist Scott Barnes is here in Miami to reveal them to you. Tonight he’ll be showing his face at the Silvia Tcherassi Atelier, located at 4101 Ponce de Leon Blvd. in Coral Gables from 6:30 to 9 p.m. while promoting his new book, About Face, Amazing Transformations Using Secrets of the Top Celebrity Makeup Artist.
The Raleigh Martini Bar
Any night is a good night to hit up The Raleigh, particularly in 2010. It’s their 70th year in business and if anyone knows how to celebrate turning so old, it’s the folks over at this South Beach art deco gem. And what better way to say Happy Birthday than with $7 prices for martinis (and valet) from 4 to 8 p.m. It wasn’t recognized by Details magazine as one of the Top 10 hotel bars in the whole world for nothing.
JB Kitchen and Bar
Warning: this event is only for the hip and trendy. Akbar Hamid, Brandon Grant, Eric Garcia, Jilian Sanz, and Kelly Talamas are hosting a happy hour tonight at JB Kitchen & Bar from 5 to 8 p.m. Formerly Badrutt’s Place, this Brickell hotspot still has a happening scene that attracts the city’s trendsetters like bees to honey.
Crawfish Boil at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens
From 7:30 to 11 p.m. you can fill you gullet with some of the best seafood that South Florida has to offer. And you can do so surrounded by all the beauty that Mother Nature has to offer at Fairchild Garden. It’s the eighth time around for this annual event, and it keeps getting better, thanks to the signature Mardi Gras-theme and the young professionals who make it happen.
LIV
Tonight is Molly Sims’ big debut at LIV. In March, Sims launched her jewelry line, Grayce by Molly Sims at Henri Bendel in NYC. Tonight she’ll be continuing her tour de jewelry launch, starting at 11 p.m. The collection includes earrings, cuffs, and bracelets, inspired by “Sims’ love of photography and travel.”
SET
Tonight’s your chance to “Dance for Free” with Tokyo Diva at this haute venue. Courtesy of Michael Capponi, Eric Millon, and Antonio Misuraca, the only acceptable way to take in this live performance is with VIP reservations, so get to it rsvp@capponigroup.com
Jazz at MOCA
Bonnie Clearwater never slows down, and certainly not on a Friday night. From 6 to 11 p.m., she presents Jazz at MOCA once again, the concert series that brings the art of music at the North Miami art gallery.
