Dori’s World: Haute Happenings in NYC Last Night
I have never seen Christie’s as happening as it was last night. There were artists, collectors, and fabulous people making their way into the rooms of the auction house. I don’t know who wasn’t there but I can tell you who was: the beautiful Samantha and Aby Rosen (the latter of which has graced more than one Haute Living cover), Ghislaine Maxwell with her longtime beau Ted Waitt, Ted Danson, Lizzie and Jon Tisch (Lizzie, as always, in an amazing designer dress), Emily Smith, from the New York Post, and Tico Mugrabi, who had celebrated his birthday the night before at a small dinner in his home.
Also seen amongst the crowd of A-listers were Ulla and Kevin Parker, Salma Hayek, Bronson van Wyck, Chevy Chase, Natalie and Edward Kaplan, Daphne Guinness, Renee and Mark Rockefeller, Brian Williams, John Demsey, Matt Lauer, Ron Meyer and Jeff Zucker.
Everyone mingled around, perusing the art and sipping cocktails before relocating upstairs for the commencement of the auction. The after-party at Monkey Bar, hosted by Graydon Carter hosted, was of course, divine. And while it seemed that the entire world was at Christie’s, this is New York, so naturally the city was abuzz with many other intriguing events.
Rena Sindi, Giulia Caltagirone, Marisa Noel Brown, and Serena Boardman descended upon the Dior dinner, while Alexander Charriol hosted an art opening with sister Coralie Charriol Paul, greeting guests like Lauren Remington Platt, Annie Churchill, and Todd English, who came to review Alex’s great new project “Human Flow,” which Rachel Heller wrote about earlier on HauteLiving.com.
I popped in to Cipriani for a quick bite and had a nice chat with the newly married Jared and Ivanka Kushner. And last but not least, the adorable Shoshanna Gruss, Fabiola Beraca, and Ferebee Taube hosted a cocktail party at the Roger Vivier boutique where friends like Beth Blake and Fernanda Niven swung by. Be sure to look out for Fernanda’s new organic stores this summer in East Hampton.
