Custo Sets Sail from Soho

News | April 1, 2010

Leave it to Custo Barcelona to shock us with an uplifting bolt of color and flurry of activity after the recent rain storms that have held NYC beneath a looming cloud of doom and gloom since last weekend.

Designer Custo Dalmau hosted a mid-afternoon gathering at his Custo Barcelona Soho store to celebrate the New York-Barcelona Transoceanic Sailing Record. Entering the Spring Street store, Estrella Damm, the beer of Barcelona, and appetizers by Boqueria filled the hands of Custo Dalmau and his guests.

Designer Custo Dalmau and Team Estrella Damm

Custo designed the sails for the Estrella Damm regatta boat, which will be competing with the W Hotel sails for the world record. His design is playful, uplifting and energizing. On a basis of red, a yellow outline of a giraffe, pink orchids, butterflies and more accent the Estrella Damm sails. The boats will set sail from New York harbor with Barcelona as the destination.

Departing the event with a satchel of Estrella beer to go, the prospect of sunnier days ahead set sail for our warm weather aspirations. We look forward to the outcome of the race that reinforces the ties between the the Atlantic and Mediterranean.
