Victoria’s Secret, anyone? Now, we can thank Brazil for the arrival of São Paulo-based designer, Iodice.
Valdemar Iodice, who has loved fashion ever since watching his mother’s fine sewing skills, launched his eponymous label in 1987. What began as a women’s contemporary collection has evolved to include women’s jersey dresses, men’s prêt-a-porter, denim, and men’s and women’s accessories lines. His high-end line, Rouge Collection, is the compilation of everything Iodice stands for: cheerful, colorful, internationally relevant designs. Valdemar Iodice oversees all aspects of design of the collections, from choosing textiles and color scales to the organization of fashion shows and advertising campaigns. His runway show has become a fixture at São Paulo Fashion Week, where some of the best and brightest style makers gather to celebrate Brazilian fashion and designers.
It is only recently that Iodice has become a fixture on the international fashion scene, and gotten noticed in the States. During New York Fashion Week’s 2008 season, Iodice debuted their first U.S. runway show at the Salon in Bryant Park to considerable appraise. His sophisticated designs are laced with unique feminine touches, and embody a strong, passionate woman. The silhouettes are cut for sexy bodies, but the understated elegance of the fabric choices and color palettes allow the clothes to be appreciated, and worn, by the international style set.
Here, in the United States, Iodice is sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, as well as specialty stores nationwide and across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. As this designer further breaks into the U.S. market we look forward to seeing his sexy designs grace the bodies of Hollywood royalty, supermodels, and society gals.
