Blissed-Out at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Boston
White orchids and flickering candles surrounded me as I entered Boston’s only five-star spa, The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Boston. Located on the fourth floor of the luxury hotel, the 16,000-square-foot facility was quite exquisite. The ladies locker room included an ice mound and fountain—unique and different from most spas I have been to—in order to cool down the body before undergoing the steam mists that were in the ladies relaxation room. I spied a Jacuzzi in the locker room that presented an absolutely divine way to warm the muscles.
Most of the treatments at The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Boston were inspired by the masters in traditional Chinese medicines. While checking things out, I opted to take advantage of the massage services. Mandarin Oriental Signature Spa Therapies work along the meridian lines to release the flow of energy in the exact way that acupuncture does. The blood flow is balanced by the five elements in Chinese medicine: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water, and depending on the oil that is chosen for each individual, it works to awaken, reflect, bloom, flourish, or release. They served berry tea in order to bring my senses to a relaxed and blissful state of mind, and I was able to prolong the sense of well being with their natural oils, which were designed to stay in my system for 24 hours. After the massage, I definitely felt released of my body’s toxins from a long week at work. I also sat with the Spa Therapist to discuss possible exercises and general health awareness prior to and after the spa experience.
The Spa at Mandarin Oriental, Boston is one of the most exclusive for the high-end spa aficionados in the entire city.
