Big Money Mint Julep

Ask any good southern woman and she’ll rattle off a recipe for the perfect mint julep. And it’s no wonder. With aromatic bourbon and fresh mint, there are few drinks that compare to the refreshing nature of a mint julep sipped under a big, floppy hat. Throw in a frosted Tiffany silver cup and honey, you’ve mastered this Derby staple.

Collaborating with Tiffany & Co., Woodford Reserve, the official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby, has created the most exclusive mint julep priced at $1,000 a piece. Purchasers will be served an elite concoction of 100 percent organic Brazilian cane sugar, Kentucky Colonel Mint, ice water from 10,000 year-old glacier and Mater Distiller’s personal selection of Woodford Reserve at Churchill Downs on Derby Day, May 1. Each divine cup, featuring the Woodford Reserve logo and horse design, will be numbered one through 73 (it has been 73 years since the Mint Julep was recognized as the official drink of the Kentucky Derby) and presented in a unique Tiffany & Co. “blue box.”

To order one of the 73 cups, head online through April 28. Proceeds will benefit The Barnstable Brown Kentucky Diabetes & Obesity Center.
