A Week Full of Philanthropy in NYC

News | April 19, 2010

It’s going to be one busy week for New York Society Editor Rachel Heller. On Tuesday night, she’ll be attending and collecting details from the eighth annual Can-Do Awards Dinner, where Emeril Lagasse will be honored by hosts that include boldface names like Stanley Tucci, Mario Batali, Calvin Pace, Chris Canty, and Lydia Frenet for the Food Bank For New York City at Chelsea Piers.

She’ll follow that up on Thursday night, April 22, with a stint at The Pierre, 2 East 61st St., for the New York Academy of Medicine’s 16th annual gala, where Earvin “Magic” Johnson will receive the inaugural edition of the Urban Health Champion Award.

And finally, Heller will round out a weekend of fetes and treats with a Monday night appearance, on April 26, at the 2010 NYU Langone Medical Center’s Violet Ball, where Helen L. Kimmel will be honored for her exemplary commitment and devotion. Robert I. Grossman, M.D., Dean and CEO of the Medical Center, will serve as the chair, with Martin Lipton, Ken Langone, John Sexton, and Robert Berne, Ph.D.
