News | April 7, 2010

Russell Simmons and Danny Simmons celebrated their 2nd Annual Gold Rush Awards at the Red Bull Space in NYC on March 18, 2010. MTV personality, Sway, hosted the festivities that included an exciting and exclusive performance by Salt-N-Pepa as well as Stephanie McKay. Those honored at the event included HBO’s “The Black List” Creators, Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and Elvis Mitchell, Photographer Jamel Shabazz, and Gallery Owner & Curator, Collette Blanchard. DJ Cassidy kept the party busy with floor thumping beats as guests enjoyed cocktails and a silent auction.

The awards recognize pioneers who have helped mold modern arts and culture through various artistic mediums. Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation is the brainchild of famous brothers, Russell, Danny, and Joseph “Rev. Run” Simmons. The organization focuses on exposing underprivileged urban youth to the arts as well as providing under-represented artists and artists of color the opportunity to exhibit their work.
