The Oscar Red Carpet at Smith & Wollensky

News | March 8, 2010

Not everyone could make it for a trip to Los Angeles to walk the red carpet last night for the 82nd annual Oscar awards, so a select group of Miami VIPs found a way to celebrate the show right here on our own sunny shores.

Smith & Wollensky was the venue that hosted the only official Oscar-watching party last night. And when we say official, we mean it, as dictated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The Miami Beach Cinematheque, the nonprofit organization that supports arts through cinema and the members who make it happen, received the official honor, for the eighth year in a row, of being selected by the Academy to be the city’s official Oscar Night® America (ONA) host.

Miami’s own red carpet at Smith & Wollensky began at 6 p.m., along with a silent auction hosted by our own local celebrity Elaine Lancaster. The live broadcast started at 8 p.m., and guests were entertained by the show, along with a three-course dinner and one of the official show programs.
