History was made on February 25, 2010 for Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. Their G650 aircrafts, T1 and T2, flew simultaneously as they were being tested for commercial use.
The G650 is powered by a Rolls-Royce BR725 engine that reaches speeds of up to 7,000 nautical miles at Mach 0.85.
Both aircraft’s took off from Savannah, Georgia. Aircraft T1 was used to examine the performance and flight controls, and aircraft T2 was used test the systems. At about 12:50 p.m. test pilots Gary Freeman and Scott Buethe took off for a two hours and 33 minutes test flight. Both tests went flawlessly.
Very soon business moguls will be able to hop around the country in the fastest luxury business jet on the planet.
Gulfstream has already produced 1,800 aircrafts since 1958. In regards to the G650, they expect to be certified by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) sometime in the not to distant future.
