Haute Style: Grammy Awards 2010

News | February 1, 2010

Fashion at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards last night was a mix of futuristic couture and tasteful elegance, as the red carpet proved once again that individuality reigns supreme.

The Queen of the night was undoubtedly Beyonce, who not only won a record six awards, the most ever won by a female artist in one night, but she also had three costume changes. For her initial red carpet stroll, she wore a latte-colored patterned gown by couturier Stéphane Rolland from his Autumn/Winter 2009 collection, later changing into Versace for her performance, and then accepting her awards in Giorgio Armani Prive.

Other much talked about style choices of the evening were Jennifer Lopez’s choice of an unusual Versace gown along with Rihanna, looking lovely, in a cream Elie Saab Couture dress, complete with a high neckline, and ruffled bodice dress.

Of course never one to disappoint, all eyes were on Lady Gaga and her parade of outrageous costumes, all designed in collaboration with Giorgio Armani for Armani Privé, which included a silver orbit-style ensemble and towering heels both of which were sprinkled in Swarovski crystals.

Fashion disasters included pop stars Britney Spears in a mesh Dolce & Gabbana “dress,” Katy Perry wearing a backless Zac Posen creation, and essentially everything that was worn by the cast of The Jersey Shore.
