“Game of Love” Party Benifits Stanford Cancer Center

News | February 18, 2010

Imagine attending an event where guests are given questions, and their answers lead them through a maze of hedges. Can you see it?  If that isn’t visual enough for you, try and imagine going to a party where Mario or Luigi park your car, or a party where there’s a dance room reminiscent of the 50s with checkerboard flooring, sweater tops, and guests doing the twist. If you can imagine all that, well, imagine it no more.

This lavish party actually took place on Feb. 6, 2010 at the elegant residence of Jillian Manus and Alan Salzman, and 300 guests arrived to take pleasure in the nostalgic setting.  “The Game of Love” was the party’s theme, but the event actually took place in hopes to raise money for the Stanford Cancer Center.

Alan’s mother, Helen, was the inspiration for the occasion as she had successfully battled cancer for an astounding third time. Her strength and perseverance is due, partly, to the amazing work done by the Stanford Cancer Center. The most recent party marked the events fifth year, and the collection of parties has raised $1.5 million towards the center, $300,000 from this year alone.

Many key names showed up at the event including Maria Shriver, EBay CEO and California Gubernatorial candidate Meg Whitman, and, of course, the star of the show, Helen Salzman. A star-studded event with all the necessities, this was definitely a one of a kind party.
