Rusty Bugatti Sells for $366,500

News | January 27, 2010

It’s pretty hard to believe that a rusted up old Bugatti could be worth, well, much, or that it would even go up for auction…but this exception will definitely startle some. This particular car sat underwater at the floor of a Swiss lake for 70 years! The 1925 Bugatti Brescia, known as the Lake Maggiore Bugatti carried an estimate value of $98,000 to $127,000. However, to the surprise of many, the rare piece raked in a whopping $366,500 at the Retromobile auction held by Bonhams. The proceeds from the auction go to the diving club that recovered the car, to help a charity preventing youth violence.
