Provocateur’s Soft Opening: Update

What happens when men design a space “specifically created to cater to women’s every desire?” You’d think that would be a hopeless cause, unless of course the men in charge are former Lily Pond partners Michael Satsky and Brian Gefter. The duo soft opened the invite-only Provocateur lounge with rave reviews coming from women, and men.

Satsky and Gefter soft opened Provocateur which is located in part of the former Ono space inside the Gansevoort Hotel. The owners say that the space was “specifically created to cater to women’s every desire,” although there are go-go dancers so everyone is probably going to be pretty satisfied. Satsky also acutely points out that “Every man’s little secret is that they like these things. A lot of guys on the low watch Gossip Girl.”

The space is split into a café with a 4,000-square-foot retractable roof and dollhouse imagery on one side and a club featuring black-lace walls inspired by Madonna’s Virgin tour in 1985. Drinks that purport to aid outer beauty while still making the room spin were created by skin-care guru Scott-Vincent Borba and can be purchased at Provocateur for $22 each. The café will play indie music while the club will be filled with progressive house music spun by international D.J’s.

The club portion of Provocateur will be open Wednesday through Saturday from 11pm to 4am.
