Obamas Help Haiti

News | January 21, 2010

Ever since the earthquake shattered and took the lives of so many in Haiti, a country that was already deep into poverty, many took their time to organize donations and to send relief however they could. Who better to set such an example for our country’s willingness to give than the President of the United States, himself? The Obamas: Barack, Michelle, and perhaps Sasha, Malia, and Bo, donated $15,000 from their own personal bank account to the Clinton-Bush Haiti fund. Josh Earnest, the White House’s spokesperson, said they were inspired to give because of the millions of Americans who donated what ever they could find, even during these tough economic times. The fact that countries can help each other after catastrophes like this one sets a standard for others, and if we could all be as giving, we might become closer to achieving world peace.
