Gucci and Christie’s Fight Against Counterfeits

News | January 11, 2010

Everyone hates counterfeit luxury goods. That’s why Gucci has taken a step further to prevent trademark infringement. On January 18, Gucci and Christie’s will launch “Gucci Collector: Presented by Christie’s,” which will be the very first Gucci-certified online destination for authenticating vintage Gucci products.

A special section on Christie’s website will allow owners to upload photos of their vintage items and submit an appraisal request, and a team of Gucci and Christie’s experts will analyze and access the items, along with appraising them with a value.

Now, people who buy and sell Gucci goods on ebay won’t have to worry about authenticity, as Christie’s website will allow people to do both.

Gucci also plans on opening a museum in Florence in 2011, in hopes that both the museum and the online website will help to preserve the history of the luxury brand.
