The floor to ceiling walls of Cooper Square Hotel is papered up. No, it’s not a red flag to signal another Table 8 style closing, but word on the street is that the hotel will be editing the downstairs bar and transforming it into a casual cafe for a lunch crowd and casual diners. Cozy up for a comfortable cappuccino when the refreshed spot opens next month.
Fine dining will continue at the rear of the restaurant with delicacies prepared by chef Scott Conant, who joined Cooper Square Hotel December 2009. Scott Conant, known for his cuisine at Scarpetta, joined the group after the fall of Cooper Square’s Table 8. Let’s hope what is beneath the paper will keep the spot going longer than Table 8’s run of only seven months.
The Cooper Square Hotel is located at 25 Cooper Square, New York, NY (212) 475 5700
