Alonzo Mourning Wants To Help Haiti

News | January 15, 2010

The Haiti earthquake shocked millions, and relief efforts are being taken. Alonzo Mourning (former Miami Heat player) arrived in Miami today, after catching a flight with a medical relief and help them by doing “anything they want me to do to help the earthquake-shattered nation’s recovery”, he said. “I’ll do manual labor or any other kind of labor. I’m here to help them.”

At a Miami fundraiser on Thursday, Mourning met Arthur Fournier of Project Medishare for Haiti, which is a nonprofit organization co-founded by Fournier and Barth Green, who are both University of Miami physicians. They have continued to provide Haitians with urgently needed medical care since the catastrophe. Mourning told Fournier, “I want to go,” and was on a plane the following day.
