Rambo Hits the Beach

In case somehow (inexplicably) you haven’t caught wind of it yet, Art Basel Miami Beach is taking place right now. Along with thousands of other people, Sylvester Stallone was seen showing art and schmoozing with the ultra-hip diverse crowd that has taken over the beach.

Sylvester Stallone may be best known for his Rocky and Rambo roles; however, unknown to many, the Hollywood star has also taken up painting over the past 30 years. Showing his art at Art Basel indicates just how far he has come over the years (or perhaps indicates people like to buy famous people’s art?) and Stallone was seen scurrying through the gallery proudly displaying his work to the viewers.

It is reported that Stallone has been quite successful with his foray into the Art Basel world as he has sold at least two pieces this week. One was sold to a gallerist for $50,000 and the other was sold to Steve Wynn, of the Wynn Las Vegas, who purchased one of Stallone’s masterpieces for $40,000.

After a hard day’s work at the galleries, Stallone and his wife, Jennifer Flavin, celebrated the sales with a poolside after-party at the infamous Setai Hotel in South Beach. Other attendees were Calvin Klein, Warner Brothers executive Lyor Cohen, Anthony Haden-Guest, and Princess Michael of Kent.
