News | November 22, 2009

Looking for a new watch? If you happen to be in London on December 2, 2009 you could be the proud new owner of one (or more) of 49 watches which will be auctioned off by Prof. F.A. Porsche and his sons, of the famed sports car brand.

Forty-nine spectacular watches from the private collection of Prof. F.A Porsche and his sons will be auctioned off by Bonham’s on December 2 in London. The auction will take place during the Fine Watches and Timepieces sale.

The collection includes magnificent timepieces by Rolex, Panerai, Jaeger LeCoultre, Britling, Omega, Eterna, and of course, Porsche Design. Custom-made for Dr. Ferdinand Oliver Porsche to celebrate his 40th birthday, one of the watches to be auctioned off is an 18 carat gold chronograph by Eterna which is estimated to be worth between $6,602 and $9,904.

Auction-goers can also expect to see an extremely rare Rolex Explore watch that features an ivory dial, a Luminor Flyback by Panerai, and an original Jaeger LeCoultre Polaris from 1960.

There is no official word as to why the family is auctioning off their private collection, but those in attendance can look forward to an incredible display of timepieces that have been part of an infamous family who clearly has distinguished taste.
