Napa Valley’s Etoile see its Star Rating Rise

Good news has sprouted out of Domaine Chandon’s long-standing restaurant, Etoile, in Napa Valley. The high-end dining haute spot has just learned that it’s Michelin three star rating has been boosted to three and half stars. While that may not seem like a big deal for some of us, for restaurateurs, it’s certainly something to be proud of.

The restaurant has recently welcomed 25-year-old chef Perry Hoffman who is quickly becoming the talk of the town. One report notes, “Hoffman’s name isn’t even mentioned on the restaurant’s Web site—a true oversight because he’s responsible for taking the food to a new level. Desserts are appropriately sweet endings to a beautifully conceived and executed meal, presided over by precise but friendly service that ranks among the best in the Bay Area.” Since Etoile’s beginning, it has seen a steady rise from two Michelin stars in the late 1990s to three in 2004. Now it can proudly boast it continues to please the masses (and those at Michelin) as it closes out the year 2009 with a three-and-a-half star rating.

Etoile is certainly popular with tourists in the area; however, those who know it best say locals should also up the ante and enjoy one of Napa Valley’s most breathtaking restaurants.
