Maltese Falcon Wins Perini Navi Cup
The 289-ft. Maltese Falcon, the world's largest, best designed, and most expensive sailing superyacht just won the Perini Navi Cup, the world's most stylish and exclusive regatta.

The Maltese Falcon certainly garners a lot of press (including from this publication), since it is the world’s largest privately owned sailing yacht. The 289-ft. watercraft, the world’s largest, best designed, and most expensive sailing superyacht changed hands this summer, as previous owner Tom Perkins sold it for a respectable $100 million (down from its asking price of $135 million). The new owner must be proud of his purchase.
The yacht just won the Perini Navi Cup, the world’s most stylish and exclusive regatta. Nineteen megayachts, all from the Perini Navi shipyard, builders of the Maltese Falcon, competed in the race, which took place in the billionaire’s playground of Sardinia. The Falcon reached top speeds of an impressive 21 knots to capture the Cup as well as a Rolex wristwatch presented by the president of the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, His Highness the Aga Khan, and master yachtbuilder Fabio Perini.
