The world’s largest passenger jet, the Airbus A380, is scheduled to land at LAX this morning at 9:15 a.m. PST. Upon arrival, 200 to 250 invited VIP guests will be able to tour the jumbo craft, which will take off for a “familiarization flight” in honor of the non-stop LA-Dubai service that Emirates Airlines is scheduled to start this fall.

This airbus was the first to be delivered to Emirates Airlines. The delivery took place in front of a crowd of 500 in Hamburg, Germany.

Chairman and Chief Executive Emirates Airline and Group, Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum was on site to receive the ginormous aircraft. “Emirates was quick to recognize the potential of Airbus’ all new A380 design, with its large double-deck capacity and excellent operating economics. It will be one of the pillars of Emirates’ future,” said Sheikh Ahmed. “With its very low fuel burn and quietness, the A380 also sets new standards in environmental performance. It will definitely help air transportation and Emirates grow, while reducing the impact on the environment,” he added.
