La Leopolda: World’s Most Expensive Home
In any part of the world, $10 million will get you an impressive home full of the lavish amenities, such as an indoor gym, home theater, tennis court, etc. Yet, these homes and prices look dowdy compared to La Leopolda. Recently purchased for a staggering $500 million, it is certifiable the world’s most expensive home.
The lucky and obviously wealthy owner is Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, owner of the Chelsea Football Club. The luxurious manor overlooks the French Riviera, giving the home owner spectacular views of the sea. The home sits on 10 acres of rich grounds that runs down through the resort of Villefranche. The home is in prime position in the tranquil and inspiring locale that is the South of France.
The estate has a colorful history of tenants: It was originally built for Belgian king Leopold’s mistresses. In more recent years, it has housed recognizable tycoons such as banking guru Edmund Safra, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Fiat mogul Gianni Agnelli.
