What’s Haute: Aspen

J-BAR

The Jerome bar, known by its locals as J-Bar, has been Aspen’s favorite watering hole since 1889. The casual yet lively atmosphere keeps people looking forward to winding down after a long day on the slopes. The bar is located in Hotel Jerome, just steps away from Aspen’s best galleries, boutiques, restaurants, and cafés. J-Bar is applauded for its infamous “Aspen Crud,” the addition of liquor, usually bourbon, to a rich milkshake; it is sure to go down in Hotel Jerome history. For those just looking to try something light, opt for their signature J-rita, a margarita with a splash of Cointreau and orange juice, and a favorite of the ladies. You can also enjoy an assortment of savory appetizers and sandwiches from their ever-growing menu, which will no doubt have your mouth watering. The hotel is known to attract a diverse mix of locals, tourists, and celebrities, so everyone can find their match.

SNOWMASS CLUB

Snowmass Club, founded in 1968, is a more diverse way to enjoy the Rocky Mountains all year round. You have the option of residential villas (deluxe one-, two- and three-bedroom villas offering views that will blow your mind) or ownership in Storied Places Private Residence, where owners have a deeded interest in their home, with access to a private, privileged community for the times they choose. “Storied Service,” an additional benefit offered, provides a knowledgeable resident innkeeper to assist with your every need. This remarkable country club is more than just a place to rest your feet; their amenities include a 19,000-square-foot athletic club equipped with four pools, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and spa services. The spa offers a variety of treatments including the popular Hydrating Fiji Facial, Snowmass Club Glow, and Gentleman’s Facial. During the winter, take a ride on their cross-country ski trails or indulge your need for speed on their quad for downhill skiing. And when summer comes along, the fun doesn’t end-swing into action at the 18-hole golf course, eleven outdoor tennis courts, or the two indoor Har-Tru courts. The area also offers horseback riding and hot air ballooning.
