We already know about Moscow’s panache for impressing, with more millionaires and billionaires per capita than any other city in the world, as well as luxury festivals such as the Millionaire Fair.

Now, Moscow appears to be on the verge of yet another impressive accomplishment: the world’s biggest building.

Crystal Island, which, at more then $4 billion, is an ambitious project to say the least, is billed as a “city inside a building,” utilizing expansive, mixed-use floor plans, and a unique, extremely wide structure that will house a variety of businesses and homes.

Starting with 3,000 hotel rooms, Crystal Island will also include 900 apartments, a 500-student school, several stores, a sports complex, a museum, and a movie theater. Though the building will NOT be the world’s tallest (though, at 1,500 feet, it will be ONE of the tallest), it’s expansive structure will have more than enough space to fit everything listed above, and more.

Foster + Partners are spearheading the project, which is expected to be completed in 2014.
