Larry Ellison
Malibu, California

This palace is a playground for mega-rich Oracle software CEO Larry Ellison. Ellison bought this house from music producer David Foster for $20 million in 2005. The compound, which includes nine bedrooms, three recording studios, a guesthouse, pool, tennis court, and on-site spa, has its own funicular-a self-contained cable railway used to cart guests from the mansion on down to the pool. This impressive palace is only one of Ellison’s homes. The billionaire, who is listed as #4 on Forbes’ list of the wealthiest Americans, owns more than 12 properties in Malibu, which have a reported total value of more than $180 million. He also has homes in Woodside and San Francisco, California.
