As we’ve had announced in our May/June issue, Christie’s International Motor Cars 2007 Flagship Auction offered Steve McQueen’s Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso’s for bid.

In 1963, McQueen, an avid car collector and racer, special ordered the Berlinetta Lusso in combination of marrone, medium-brown metallic paint with an elegant beige leather interior from Otto Zipper Motors. Sculpted by Pininfarina Body, the car is one of the most prized and attractive Ferrari’s ever built.

On August 17th, an anonymous car aficionado put a phone bid for $2.3 million for this jewel on wheels. The bidder came out on top of numerous others anticipating to get their hands on one of Mc Queen’s legacy.

The sale estimated between $800,000 and $1.2 million, reached a stellar value:
“I couldn’t be happier for the car and the legacy of Steve McQueen,” seller Mike Regalia said. “Without his ownership, it never would have received this value.”
