French Laundry Remains Sole Three-Star San Francisco Eatery

News | October 22, 2009

Respected restaurant critic, Michelin, just released its annual Bay Area edition and guide to the top San Francisco restaurants fit for only the hautest of expectations.

The revealing of the area’s much-anticipated crop of starred restaurants held few surprises for those who already know the area’s best locales. As many expected, there was no change in pace when it came to the area’s only three-star restaurant, Thomas Keller’s own French Laundry.

The two star hot-spots included Coi in San Francisco, Cyrus in Sonoma County, Manresa in South Bay, and the Restaurant at Meadowood in Napa.

New to the one-star level was Aziza, Commis, Etoile, La Torque, Quince, Luce, Sante, Solbar, and Napa’s renowned vegetarian destination, Ubuntu.

However, it wasn’t stars and smiles for every previously Michelin-approved eatery. Michael Mina’s flagship restaurant was demoted down to one star, and Aqua lost both of its stars.
