Starting on June 8, Bergdorf Goodman is transforming its beauty level café into a whimsical art gallery featuring renowned pop artist, Ashley Longshore. This will mark the New Orleans-based artist’s second time having her work displayed at the iconic store within the same year. Back in January, Longshore made history as she became the first solo female artist to exhibit at Bergdorf Goodman; however, this time her art is taking a different form in the shape of a restaurant.

Named Palette at BG, guests will dine among Flavor Paper jeweled wall paper, bedazzled giant champagne bottles, embellished vinyl chairs, and inspiring quotes from the artist. The best part is that the artwork on display is available for purchase. Having achieved cult status through her loyal social media following, Longshore is thrilled to, again, have the opportunity to share her work with Bergdorf Goodman’s discerning global clientele.

“I love celebrating beauty and life. Bergdorf Goodman is a place you can go and find something truly special whether it’s a stunning Peter Dundas kimono or a great Clé de Peau Beauté lipstick,” says Longshore. “Beauty is about confidence. As an artist, I create art that makes me feel comfortable and confident in the world. I hope the restaurant will incite a feeling of celebration where guests can enjoy the vibrant, electric environment I’ve created and leave feeling inspired and confident in their own personal way.”

With an original style that mixes humor and beauty with her salacious razor-sharp assertions on pop culture, Longshore’s glamorous and playful artwork has created an international fan following that includes Blake Lively, Salma Hayek, H.S.H Prince Pierre D’Arenberg and Lorraine Schwartz. Longshore has also partnered with luxury brands such as Judith Leiber, Clé de Peau Beauté and Mark Cross.
With such an incredible and impressive response to Longshore’s artwork on the 7th floor and across the Fifth Avenue windows, this new partnership made perfect sense.
“We invited Ashley to be our ‘artist in residence’ after the overwhelming response we felt from our installation on the 7th Floor and in the Fifth Avenue windows,” says Linda Fargo, Bergdorf Goodman’s Fashion Director. “People couldn’t get enough of her no-holds-barred, beautifully outrageous work. I think what’s so appealing about Ashley’s voice and imagery is that it’s outspoken, humorous and glamorous all at the same time. Her palette is loaded with paint, makeup, glitter, body politics and witticisms you wish you had thought of!”
The café, which seats 50, will welcome guests into a pop art wonderland unique to Bergdorf Goodman. Together with Fargo and Bergdorf Goodman, Longshore has redesigned the space with jeweled wallpaper that echoes her most popular paintings, decadent chandelier installations, and beautifully embroidered linen napkins. The space will be filled floor to ceiling with her signature bedazzled butterflies, oversized embellished lipsticks, one-of-a-kind acrylic trays, empowered women series and more. In addition to the artwork, Bergdorf Goodman will sell an exclusive collection of tabletop, edibles and more by Ashley Longshore on the 7th Floor.
