Celebrity stylist Karla Welch’s list of clients reads like a who’s who of Hollywood. She’s dressed everyone from Demi Moore and Karlie Kloss to Olivia Wilde, Cindy Crawford, and Oprah Winfrey.

Welch is known for her effortless and cool approach to style, which is why we weren’t surprised when to heard she teamed up with fashion fitness retailer SIX:02 to host a private shopping soiree at their Hollywood boutique recently.

During the party, Welch dished out tips on how to not sacrifice style when you’re heading to yoga by rocking fashion-forward athleisure wear from classic brands such as Adidas and Nike as well as on-trend labels like Beyonce’s Ivy Park, and Rihanna’s Fenty–all of which are stocked at SIX:02.

Welch has already proved that yes, you can rock a tracksuit to a red carpet event and make it look like a million bucks (see photo below). It’s safe to say she knows what she’s talking about. Keep reading to find out her favorite trends, what workout pieces need to be in everyone’s closet, and how to dress up a tracksuit.

Athletic wear is really having a moment right now. What are your tips for making it look chic and cool and not just a boring outfit you wear to the gym?

I think the gym is the perfect place to go outside your comfort zone. Wear a crazy pattern, mix and match. No rules apply.

What are some of your favorite trends in workout wear right now?

I like all the major brands bringing back pieces from the 70s.

What workout pieces should be in everyone’s closet?

A great sports bra. A racer cut is super flattering. And sneakers that make you love to move!
