WATCH: Jimmy Kimmel Believes Now Is The Time To Talk Gun Control

Jimmel Kimmel tears up addressing the Las Vegas Route 91 shooting that happened in his hometown and urges the need to talk gun control now.

Emotional Jimmy Kimmel fights back tears speaking to his audience and millions watching “Jimmy Kimmel Live” about the deadliest shooting in modern American history in his hometown of Las Vegas and the need for gun control.

He brought up comments he’s read that’ve said what’s happened is terrible, but they believe nothing can be done. But, he disagrees.

“There are a lot of things can be done about it, which is interesting because when someone with a beard attacks us, we tap phones, we invoke travel bans, we build walls, we take every possible precautions to make sure it doesn’t happen again. But when an American buys a gun and kills other Americans then ‘there’s nothing we can do about it.’”

Following the events that occured on Sunday, Oct. 1, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced Monday the time to debate gun control is not now.

“There’s a time and place for a political debate, but now is the time to unite as a country, and it would be premature for us to discuss policy when we don’t fully know all the facts or what took place last night.”

Kimmel brought up Sander’s comments and felt the deaths of the victims from the Las Vegas Route 91 Harvest festival shooting is more of a reason to talk gun control now.

“We have 59 people dead. It wasn’t their time either, so I think this is the time for political debate.”

He also showed images of senators who voted for tighter gun control laws after the Orlando shooting.

Though Kimmel would like to run his show as the comedic show that it is and a laugh every day, he notes it’s becoming increasingly difficult for him to do either.

“It feels like someone has opened a window into hell.”
