The Tastiest Restaurants To Celebrate National Lobster Day In Boston
Monday is National Lobster Day, so to celebrate the day in haute style as we do here, we have rounded up the best places in Boston to indulge. From a buttery version served on a grilled brioche roll to lobster guacamole complete with an oceanfront view, here’s a look at the top spots to get your lobster fix on.
Summer Shack
Bostonians know one of the best ways to eat lobster in Boston is the Jasper White way. For more than 15 years, the chef/owner has been serving up his signature buttery pan roasted version smothered in the most delicious bourbon, chervil and chive sauce. The year-round Back Bay haute spot serves up lobster in every way imaginable. Try a simply steamed enormous three-pounder or pair it up with all the fixings (think mussels, clams, corn, potatoes, egg and chourico) for a clambake anytime of year. We also love their wood grilled style topped with garlic, parsley and buttery bread crumbs. Did we also mention they have one of the city’s best lobster rolls (served chilled with tarragon mayo and cucumbers or warm butter poached)?

Sushi is just sushi until you have had the lobster tempura roll at Legal Harborside’s all season rooftop location. Head up to the third floor of Legal Sea Foods’ signature restaurant in the Seaport District and order up this specialty maki .The wow factor when the dish arrives can be seen across the dining room as the dish is delivered to your table. The enormous roll is almost too perfect to eat, but when you do, you will enjoy the combined flavors of avocado, lobster, tobiko, spicy mayo and teriyaki.

The Barking Crab
A favorite among tourists, at this waterfront shack in the Seaport District, you will walk in 10 pounds lighter if you order up the city’s largest crustacean. The hard shelled sweet New England lobster is boiled and served with a side of drawn butter for dipping. There are also fire grilled and pan roasted (topped with beurre-blanc) versions available, if you are looking for some added flavor.

You might not expect to find one of the city’s best lobster rolls in the North End, but Neptune Oyster continues to receive raves for its warm version and for good reason. A grilled brioche roll here is filled with a buttery helping of sweet tail and claw meats. You can opt to have it served chilled with mayo, but we think the best way to enjoy Neptune’s standout is by way of the warm buttery version.

Who would think to go to a Mexican cantina on National Lobster Day? For those in the know (that includes you now), you can celebrate in haute style with a sampling of their lobster guacamole filled with onions, tomatoes, cilantro, avocados and fiery serrano chili peppers. They also have a Mexican version of traditional lobster mac and cheese – the spiced up lobster poblano – to round out the day perfectly.
